Charlie graduated with an Honours Degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Ulster in 2009.
On graduating, he moved to New Zealand where he spent over 5 years working for one of New Zealands top private physio and Pilates studios. After 4 years he was promoted to clinic manager where he was charged with overseeing up to 15 staff between 2 clinics.
He see’s the benefit of continued professional development, and has undertaken multiple sports related courses. In his last year in New Zealand, he completed a World recognized Pilates Masters, which allows him to train individuals to become Pilates instructors. He uses a lot of Pilates based exercises in his treatment plans and finds these have longer lasting results.
Since moving home, he set up ProPhysioNI’s Aghyaran clinic and more recently, the Omagh clinic. He loves teaching reformer Pilates and has a keen interest in all sports, particularly in golf. This interest led him to undertake specialized training with the Titleist Performance institute (TPI), which enables him to carry out a specific screen to highlight players’ weaker areas. He then develops a program specific to the golfer to improve their body and allow them to play pain free and better golf.
In 2020, Charlie was accepted on to the renowned ProSport Academy Mentorship Programme run by physiotherapist Dave O’ Sullivan, current England Rugby League Head Physio. In the mentorship programme, Dave shares his knowledge of assessment, treatment and return to play rehab progressions, amoung other skills, and Charlie is looking forward to being able to further ProPhysioNI’s offering on completion of the programme.
Charlie has played Gaelic and soccer in Ireland and New Zealand and has a love for sport. He loves going to support Aghyaran and Tyrone, however he unfortunately supports West Ham so has many unhappy Saturdays.
